The Difference Between Rustic And Modern

Different ceiling fan styles offer distinctive qualities that go beyond their capabilities. Consider the wide selection of rustic ceiling fans available on today’s market. There are modern fans that feature streamlined, smooth designs that capture a modern look and feel. These modern fans build on the idea of minimalism with clean lines and smooth overall features. Rustic style interior design focuses more on wood tones, stone, and country style decor.

In a rustic interior design setting there will likely be more furniture or furnishings then that of a modern design. Modern designs focus more on minimalism and streamlining, so there won’t be nearly as much stuff in the room. Modern will be more functional and transitional with a focus on the idea of “less is more.” A Farmhouse style fan combines both designs to make for a best of both worlds approach that suits some places, but not all rooms.

Symmetry

A rustic ceiling fan provides a nostalgic look and some symmetry to tie the room together. It also can help you observe a phenomenon known as radial symmetry. Fan blades spin around and create a symmetry with the appliance that gives it its unique look. When the fan rotates it it’s central point, everything looks the same. This concept is known as radial symmetry. Radial symmetry looks easy on the eyes and gives ceiling fan rotation that unique look we associate with the devices. If the fan is wobbly or unbalanced, then it won’t have any symmetry and will probably need to be cleaned or replaced.

Enhance The Look and Circulation Of A Room

Rustic fans are good for tying a room together or adding a splash of nostalgia to an area. They also work really well with hardwood floors. Because of their largely wooden aesthetic, they fit in well with a natural look. Rustic also uses brighter, less dull colors than modern designs making them ideal for a variety of interior design applications. Aside from their pleasant looks, ceiling fans also help reduce energy costs at any time of the year. Remember that ceiling fans do not create cool or warm air; they merely circulate existing air around. This activity improves airflow in the home.

Depending on the direction in which the fan is spinning (clockwise or counterclockwise), it can be useful in helping to heat or cool the room. Fans that move around higher volumes of air that pass through an area each minute, known as cubic feet per minute (CFM), are usually more efficient. Be sure to check the ratings for the best value.

Multiple Blades

The general rule of thumb is that the more blades a fan has, the quieter and more efficiently it will run as it spins. The number of blades is usually between three and five, but there are some two-blade models out there—predominantly with industrial fans. Blade pitch can determine the amount of airflow and angle of air flow. The number of blades is pretty important, however. Three blades is typically optimal for most homes, but more blades create a bit more airflow and can be useful in different situations. Ultimately, you just need to figure out what works best for your home and go in that direction.

Lighting

Lighting is another key component of accessorizing a ceiling fan. There are numerous light styles, types, and bulbs you can use in your fan. A good light can provide full on lighting for the room, room ambience, and offer a long-term solution to adding additional light to your home.

There’s also the possibility to control the lights with a remote control or smart device, making turning them on and off or dimming them much easier than using a wall switch or pull chain. Adding lights to a fan is a great way to get the maximum benefit from it while also providing a useful addition to your home.
