Incorporating textures into your interior design can add elements of warmth and comfort; one such texture that is big this year is cork. Yes, we mean the same material that you pin your notes to, or even what’s in your wine bottle.
Using cork in your home can be executed in a number of different ways; having a cork feature wall could transform the room into a creative, inspirational area, allowing you to gather bits and bobs together. A quirky addition to your décor, you shouldn’t be afraid to use it whether it’s in the bedroom or the kitchen. It can look beautiful against a bright white wall or even over other textures such as tiles, and might even become the focal point of a room.
Another popular material that surfaced in 2016, and looks set to stay, is marble. Design buffs have been drawn to marble for some time now, as you’ve probably seen all over your Instagram feed. Creating a sophisticated and minimal backdrop for any room, marble can add an element of light to even the darkest of spaces. Creating a classic appearance, a drop of marble could make a huge difference to your home; as long as you don’t overdo it!

Metallics have proven popular for some time, and there’s even been evidence of micro-trends within this spectrum of color. Starting last year, and still being spotted in our interior design into early 2017, copper is a dramatic and striking color to include. Used in small statement pieces and accents instead of a room-wide makeover, copper has a beautiful glow. Whether you choose a shine finish or a brushed matte effect, it can still be used subtly throughout your home.
This year, new shades are coming through that are reminiscent of prestige and luxury. Jewel tones, such as royal blue, purple, wine red and emerald, are becoming increasingly popular. Injecting color into your home, these particular shades are beautifully eye-catching.

On the other end of the scale, if you’re a fan of a more natural appearance, you might be in luck. Terracotta is another huge trend for 2017, creating cosy and comforting environments. Very distinct, terracotta has a beautiful earthy tone to it that wouldn’t be amiss in your kitchen or even conservatory.
